Come learn precision German goldsmithing flush setting techniques: a simple, very strong and nearly invisible way to embed diamonds or other fine gemstones into metal. Working on actual pieces, we'll create at least a pendant and ring, with an option to fabricate and set another piece, all in sterling silver. You may also bring your own piece to work with. While CZ gemstones will be provided, you are also welcome to bring your own gemstones: calibrated 5.5mm, 2.25mm and 1.75mm. You will learn tips and techniques developed over 26 years of studio goldsmithing practice. By understanding and practicing these basic principles, you can unlock a myriad of design possibilities. I will also offer my favorite burnisher and a selection of Australian diamonds for purchase. There will be soldering, but no previous stone setting experience required! Materials fee includes a sterling cast ring, two sterling disks for pendants, sterling rod for your own new piece, graver handle + burnisher, 22 CZ stones in 3 sizes, drill bits, and all ball and stone setting burs required.
