Learn to cast sterling silver jewelry elements using one of the world’s oldest casting techniques. The porous bone-like shell of the cuttlefish provides a naturally beautiful, organic background texture to your carved design. Each cast is completely unique. Carving into the cuttlebone is simple and requires NO previous carving skills. More advanced students can bring their own ideas for carving cast elements to incorporate into larger jewelry projects, while beginners will be guided with design ideas for simple projects. More complex projects might require outside lab time to complete. Beginners might consider taking Julie's 1-day Independent Study class afterwards to finish up. Julie's first cuttlefish carved piece was a blue ribbon winner in the San Diego County Fair a few years ago. You will love the ease of this technique and it will quickly become your go-to casting process. All levels.
