Learn the most traditional Japanese method of patterning mokume-gane. Chisel patterning involves chiseling into the surface of your blank mokume-gane to create rivers of pattern that follow your chisel marks. After hammering the sheet back to flat, your unique chisel patterns are locked into the metal forever. You will be able to create at least one finished chisel-patterned sheet, for incorporation into later work (pendants, earrings, etc). Copper/brass mokume included, silver/copper and/or silver/copper/brass mokume will be available for purchase in class. Chisels will be available for purchase. Best for intermediate jewelry students.
Class goes from 9am to 4pm with a lunch break from noon-1pm.
Our main instructor at Anneville, Anne Wolf has been teaching general jewelry/metals classes since 2003, and mokume gane workshops since 2008.
Anneville Jewelry Lab is located at Liberty Station with plenty of free parking and delicious coffee and food options within walking distance.
